Today I get to tell you about two small gems, restaurants you probably don’t know about that aren’t dazzling, high-budget operations but worth a visit for delicious food at very reasonable prices. The biggest thrill in writing a column like this is to alert readers to worthy restaurants, and it would be hard to find two places more worthy; both are family-owned, entrepreneurial and humble to the core.
Zatter Zacky has been open about a year in a small shopping center on Wible, yards north of the now-closed Target store. It doesn’t have the prime real estate claimed by the Mexican restaurant Santiago’s right out front. Stuck in the middle of the retail strip, it’s hard to find and small — only five tables. It’s mostly a lunch or early dinner place, closing at 8 p.m., though crowds are light after the lunch rush.
