The arguments posed in the large ad in The Californian on April 8, urging opposition to HR 3061, are at best disingenuous and obviously self-serving the sponsors, an apparent consortium of pharmaceutical interests hiding behind the name of a Super-PAC, the so-called American Action Network.
It was bad enough that Congress advanced the original bill creating Medicare Part D, the text of which was drafted wholly by the same lobby without critical assessment to consider the interests of all concerned. Now with this bill that offers to correct one of several glaring errors in Part D, they are reacting in a predictable manner in opposing this correction.
