It was a good week to be a fan of live music in Bakersfield: Headed our way in coming months are the kings of Southern rock, an ’80s Brit reggae sensation and all kinds of country — old, new, and Marty Stuart-cool.
The announcement Friday of Stuart’s Oct. 9 performance at the Fox Theater was the latest concert news in a jam-packed week of it. The country traditionalist with the gravity-defying pompadour and lightning-quick fingers last lit up the venue in 2014. Fox Theater manager Bob Bender also said on “First Look with Scott Cox” Friday that bluesy rocker Boz Scaggs will perform at the downtown Bakersfield venue Aug. 3, and ’80-’90s pop/rocker Richard Marx will take the stage Oct. 13. Tickets for the Fox shows are not yet for sale.
