SAN JOSE — Zack Littell’s pitching and Tyler Marlette’s home run helped the Bakersfield Blaze avoid a sweep with a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Giants on Wednesday at Municipal Stadium.
Littell (4-0) pitched eight shutout innings, striking out six, walking none and allowing five hits. He received all the offense he needed from catcher Tyler Marlette, who hit a two-run home run, his 13th, in the sixth. Marlette’s homer was one of just three hits for Bakersfield, which scored just four runs on 11 hits in the three-game series.
